I’ve probably told you once or twice before, but there’s no harm in saying it again: there is no such thing as too much of a good thing. And today, I am talking about great bakers and pastry shops in the Jordaan. I consider myself truly lucky for many reasons and having great gems like WALDO. and Le Petit Deli around is one of those reasons. And quite recently, a new kid not only entered the block (my street!), called Noé.
To be quite specific, Noé opened its doors to its (great smelling!) bakery and pastry shop back in February. Noé is what one can call a true family owned business, that started all the way in France, about 25 years ago with the aim of making healthy, organic and sustainable food accessible for all. Talking about a great aim, right?! The owner was born in The Netherlands, moved to France and this year, moved right back to expand their lovely family owned bakery and pasty shop to Amsterdam.
All of their products are made daily in my beloved city and are organic. Fun fact: the family recipe is already 33(!) years old and it’s the recipe of the classic French baguette and all of their (beautiful) breads are French sourdough. As they have known their suppliers personally for a long, long time, they can guarantee the best ingredients to make high quality, and just very delicious products. Their hazelnuts and almonds for instance are from family friends in Sicily and their flour is from Gard, milled by the Moulin de Colagne who cooperate with the farmers in the region. So you can truly say that there’s a lot of love, craftmanship and attention that goes in every single ingredient and product.
Of course, I “owed it to you” to order and try a lot of things to give my honest, fair and complete verdict. And let me tell you, next time, I’m afraid I won’t order just a small thing or two, I most probably will be tempted to get a lot of things again, as it was truly delicious!
When stepping into Noé on the Bloemgracht, you’ll immediately be welcomed by the lovely staff, the mouthwatering scent of freshly baked bread and the pastries make for a real treat for the eyes. Currently, they already have 3 shops in Amsterdam but for the moment, this is it. As they have no desire to become a chain or so, but they just want to keep it small, lovely and local.
Whether you’re looking for something sweet or just some really fine bread, I definitely recommend paying a visit to Noé. It’s a “oui” for me!
