Lately, the rain has been more than generous to us in my beloved Amsterdam. However, always remember that it is not about waiting for the rain to be over, it is about learning how to dance, explore and enjoy in the rain, my dear folks. And quite frankly, between the rain showers, some sweet rays of sunshine have been around too. So, as the Bloemgracht is getting ready to honour is name again, and the first beautiful daffodils have been spotted by yours truly, I have found no reason but to truly be stoked about upcoming weekend. Let me tell you a little about what’s happening around!

BAR-dancing: Tapped By Men – “De BAR”, 28th of February
The “vrijmibo” (Friday drinks) recommendation of this week is at “de BAR”. A bar where every drip of alcohol is not only produced in a sustainable, local manner, but also created and served by women. But this Friday, they changed it up a little by letting some, what is promised, handsome men serve the beers to you. And naturally, with beer comes an appetite for some bites. Try a portion of their classic “bitterballen”, fries with Gin mayonnaise or great nacho’s. Additionally, this weekend, this weekend is their one-year anniversary. And if that doesn’t deserve a special cheers, I don’t know what does.

Watching The Stars – Artis, 29th of February
This Friday is the national “watching the stars” day. Therefore, ARTIS is hosting a lovely event at their Planetarium, during which you get the chance to design your own planet, join stand-up astronomy presentations and best of all: in the chapel of their planetarium, you get to travel to the edge of the universe and watch the stars through the telescopes. Which to me sounds like a lovely little magical night under the stars… I could think of worse. 😉

Japan Winter Festival – Dok Amsterdam, 29th of February
Dok always manages to come up with the most fun, all-round and appetizing events. This weekend, it’s all about Japan. Dance under the enlighted cherry blossom, sip some sake, visit their arcade and enjoy some of the greatest Japanese creations by chefs. And from what I’ve seen around, the décor truly doesn’t disappoint either. How time convenient right, a little trip to Japan for the day!

Trail Painting Class: Picasso – Art Studio Rembrandtplein, 29th of February
Pablo Picasso is one of the most famous artists ever. Nowadays, still a lot of artists are inspired by his unique and ground-breaking work. And even though there will naturally only be one true Picasso, if you are a little into his style of work, you might want to drop by this great introduction class, during which you will learn more about his works, his techniques and you will be thought some tips and tricks. Note: beginners are more than welcome to. Everybody has to starts somewhere, right? 😉

Spring Is In The Air Market, Sunday Market – Westergas, 1st of March
Markets are an all year activity, and one of my personal favourites for that matter. However, if you’d looked into my heart, you’d know that I do adore outside strolling just a little more. Luckily, the outdoor market season is (almost) there. This Sunday, the Sunday market is hosting a special spring edition at Westergas. Find all kinds of art, food, fashion and design stands. And naturally, they will take care of some (kids) entertainment and some live music too.
Make it a great one people!
Sincerely,
Mr. J
