Love, sweet love: some even call it “the purpose”. However, I’d first and foremost would like to wish you the most wonderful Valentine’s Day, folks. I hope you are all celebrating this great fortune today, this weekend and every day after that, too. And if you are still looking for ways to celebrate and make the most of the weekend, let me tell you a little about a few lovely events happening in my city these upcoming days.

Silent Disco – Noorderlicht Café, 15th of February
Ahh, I do adore silent discos. Sometimes at home, I find myself hosting my very own private silent disco, by putting on some headphones and then the dancing shoes appear. Dancing the night away, on everybody’s favourite kind of tunes, is a great way to celebrate the weekend. At Noorderlicht Café, they same to agree and so, they are hosting a Silent Disco this Saturday Evening. Whether you’re into hip-hop, afro tunes, 80’s and 90’s oldies: they will provide what you’ll need in order to have a groovy evening.

Premium Winter Warmer Cruise by Talisker x Pure Boats – daily till the 16th of April 2020
One of my favourite ways to explore Amsterdam is by boat. Cruising on the unique and truly stunning canals of my city never gets old. This weekend, Talisker x Pure Boats are hosting a special two-hour cruise during which you will have access to an unlimited amount of drinks and bites. And if that doesn’t sound like a real treat, I don’t know what it is. 😉
The Evening Photowalk – Kamera Express, 15th of February
Call me “a little” biased, but I do truly believe in my heart that Amsterdam is incredibly photogenetic, regardless of the weather or time of the day. And if you’re into photography, this one might be something for you. During the Photowalk, you will learn all about evening photography. Both amateurs as the real deal professionals are more than welcome to join this evening. The walk will take you to some great locations, such as the famous 9 streets and my beloved Westerchurch. So next to gaining some tips and tricks, it’s also just a really nice evening stroll.
Labritorium Rembrandt – Rembrandthuis, till the 16th of February
Where art meets science. The Night Watch, who hasn’t heard or seen a picture of it? For many reasons, Rembrandt is considered to be of the greatest Dutch artists of all times. At the Rembrandt Laboratory, they now have created an interactive laboratory setting called “Rembrandt’s Technique Unravelled”. During this tour, you will step into scientists’ shoes and learn all about his paintings, etchings and drawing techniques, together with recent methods to learn all about X-Ray and how it is used to track the changes he made during the process, almost 400 years ago.

Museum Market – Museumplein, 16th of February
A market filled with artistic designer stands on the beautiful Museumsquare. Now, that is what I’d call a great plan for the weekend. During this Museum Market, there will be a great number of just lovely local stands, offering some fine designs, ranging from fashion to jewellery and from art to vinyls. And of course, there will be some bites, music and a playground for the youngsters.

Ceuvel Kledingruil Extravaganza #10 – Café De Ceuvel, 16th of February
I’ve talked already quite a lot of times about some great initiatives to get your hands on some preloved treasures. And why buy if you can swap? It’s a great chance to look at your wardrobe critically and see which items still brings you joy. And if it doesn’t, why not exchange it for something that does? At Café Ceuvel they are hosting a big clothing exchange event.

Bacon & Leggs Drag Brunch – Youseum, 16th of February
Nothing brings cheer as boozy Sunday brunch! But this one is slightly out of the ordinary. While you will be indulging in some fine dishes and delicious mimosas, drag queens treat you to an impressive show. And if you are looking to get your culture fix after brunch, why not visit the museum?
Cheers to a lovely weekend!
Sincerely,
Mr. J
