Last-minute Gift Shopping: Amsterdam’s Treasure Hunting Heavens

The countdown till the merriest days of the year has officially started. With just four days left on the agenda, if it’d be possible, you would almost smell Christmas. And as it is almost common knowledge that December can be a bit of a busy month for many, if you haven’t gathered and wrapped up your Christmas presents, I can guarantee you that you are not the only one. Therefore, I thought it’d be nice to share some of my all-time favourite shops for some last-minute Christmas shopping in Amsterdam.

Hutspot: I never manage to leave this concept store empty handed. With its very broad range of products and just great local designs and initiatives, this place has some of the best gifts for both men as women, from clothes to books and from plants to gift sets. Definitely worth the visit!

Six and Sons: from one concept store to another. Six and sons is another one of my favourites due not only its industrial feel, but the great number of quirky little items that make for a great gift.

Doing Goods: wabi-sabi shopping: find some of the loveliest home interior gifts all around at Doing Goods. All items are not only handmade but also fairly produced. As Doing Goods is aiming to spark some joy, near and far, it won’t come as a surprise as why this great brand makes the ultimate treasure-hunting heaven for Christmas.

WIJCK.: Personally, I am convinced that WIJCK. Prints make for some of the most successful gifts. As their unique black and white design of cities, neighbourhoods and iconic buildings bring back some of people’s most favourite memories while just giving your interior a little boost. A guaranteed win under the Christmas tree!

Sukha: the meaning of Sukha is “joy of life”. At their beautiful and just adorable shop, they sell all kinds of lovely products and items that are conceived, developed and created there.

Tenue de Nimes: At the lovely shops of Tenue de Nimes, they focus on quality, function and simplicity, all rooted in the history of jeans. But during the years, they evolved and started to offer products that represent “The Good Things in Life”. Next to bigger brands, they also have their own collection, including items that make for some great gits.

Raw Materials: If you’re searching for some unique home and interior items, Raw Materials is just the place to go. Their items are found for example in abandoned factories, old ships, vintage local markets worldwide. Time to find some gems!

Concrete Matter: Concrete Matter offers some of the finest sustainable, high quality fashion and décor items. The perfect place to find something special for people that are trying to consume less fast-fashion.

Marie-Stella-Maris:  Some of the most popular gifts during Christmas are body care products. From hand balms to shampoo’s and scented sticks: there is a high demand of such products during Christmas time. Personally, I am just hooked on Marie-Stella-Maris’ products. Not only are their products great for your skin and body (and oh boy, do they smell fantastic!), they also contribute a fixed amount for every item sold to their foundation in order to realize clean and accessible water for everyone, worldwide. Talking about a win-win situation!

Barong Barong: If you are looking for the perfect piece of jewellery for your nearest and dearest, I strongly recommend a visit to Barong Barong. This oh so lovely Amsterdam brand offers the finest pieces high-quality jewellery, which are all handmade in Bali. From colourful designs to proper must-haves for men, it is the definition of a candy store for jewellery lovers.

And of course, I couldn’t say goodbye without wishing you all very, very merry Christmas, filled with laughter, joy and loads of good food naturally. Enjoy and make it a magically few days!

Sincerely,
Mr. J
