Well, well, well. Look what day it already is folks! Life does happen in the blink of an eye, now doesn’t it? Any how, Friday, my old friend, it’s good to have you back! These last couple of weeks, the temperatures have dropped significantly, which means that me and fellow Dutchies start daydreaming about sipping some mulled wine, the possibility of a white Christmas and sharpening our ice skates in case the beautiful canals of my beloved city will be frozen again. But in the meantime, while we are not quite there yet, let me tell you a little about what is happening in and around Amsterdam this very weekend.
Rooftop Shuffleboard XL – Floor 17, till 31st of December
Taking the good ol’ Dutch games to another height: until the 31st of December, rooftop bar Floor 17 is hosting a shuffleboard battle. Ranging from obstacle boards to massive boards, a little friendly competition never hurts. And in case you appear to be true natural, why not go for the cup and sign up for their Open Championship Rooftop Shuffleboard?! Let the games begin!
Amsterdam Art Weekend – till the 24th of November
If you’re looking to get your “art-fix” in this weekend, you’re definitely in for a treat, as it is the 8th edition of Amsterdam Art Weekend. Which means that Amsterdam’s most edgy, contemporary art venues will be showcasing their latest works. 58 venues in total will participate in during this weekend, which means that their will most probably be something interesting for everyone.
Etsy x The Maker Market – De Hallen, 23th of November
It is common knowledge that for some people, the upcoming festive month means slightly stressing over what to buy for your nearest and dearest. Luckily, there’s The Maker Market that saves the day with its unique range of the most innovative and creative independent creators and brands. And not just any edition will take place this weekend, but it’s the annual collaboration between Etsy (a creative platform) and The Maker Market. I guarantee you, there will be some treasures available!
The Impact Days – 21st till 23d of November
One of the reasons why I adore Amsterdam as much as I do (and always have done), is due to its high number of businesses who are actively pursuing social or economical change. As most businesses simply aim to generate more profit, these social or economic entrepreneurs deserve extra recognition and credit for the change and positive impact they are realizing. This weekend are The Impact Days, during which you get to meet and learn more about some of these businesses during their guides and workshops. Personally, I am very much planning on stopping by Tony Chocoloney, brewery De Prael and Café De Ceuvel. Consciously consuming for the win!
Winery Tour and Wine Tasting – Chateau Amsterdam, 23d and 24th of November
Cheese, wine and all other things fine. This weekend, Chateau Amsterdam is hosting a Winery Tour and Wine tasting. Get a taste of 4 different sorts of wine, together with some great Dutch cheeses from Kef. And no worries if you are not a wine critic (yet), their sommelier will guide you in order to taste wine like a proper professional. Santé!
So, whether you are triggered by some of these great events or you are still convinced that your couch is the place to be this weekend, I wish you a very memorable weekend!
