As November is in full bloom, or rather in full de-leaf for that matter, my beloved city is looking forward to the festive, chilly months ahead. Throughout the city, you will already find so much festive decoration and all kinds of lovely lights to light up the darkness, which might just be one of my favourite things about these months. And as the weekend is just around the corner again, I’d love to tell you a little about all great things happening in my very beloved Amsterdam this weekend.
Pop-up winebar – Ribera Del Duero, 7th till 10th of November till and the 14th till the 17th of November
It will unfortunately only lasts two weekends : Ribera Del Duero is bringing the spanish vino to Amsterdam with their pop-up winebar. This “winehouse” has recently opened its doors in Amsterdam and serves more than 40 wines a glass… Which equals something for everybody I’d say! So, go ahead and enjoy a few (or a lot of) sips of Spanish grape heaven . Ai, ai, ai!
Amsterdam Autumn Vintage Kilo Sale – Posthoornkerk, November 9th
A little sustainable shopping often “hurts” the wallet a little less, next to the obvious fact there are a lot of positive things to say about purchasing “pre-loved” items. And if you are a little tired of your current autumn wardrobe, this weekend is a great opportunity to go treasure hunting during the Amsterdam Autumn Vintage Kilo Sale, which means that you pay per kilo instead of agreeing upon a fixed price per item.
Classics – LAB 111, 8th, 9th and 10th of November
Some movies and stories are too good to watch just one time. And even if they dated decades ago, they still never get old. Therefore, LAB 111 will play some of the greatest classics this weekend. From Fightclub to Goodfellas and Blade Runner: get yourself some popcorn, sit back and enjoy!
Balinese Brunch – Mama Makan, 10th of November
Brunch and Sundays go together like ying and yang. ‘Cause honestly, if I’d have my very own dictionary made, the definition of a perfect Sunday would most definitely include a great brunch. So, for the people who’d like to escape the autumn, Mama Makan offers a great Balinese Brunch that will bring serious tropical island vibes to the table. And one “minor” detail, it’s an all you can eat brunch, which creates a nice little window of the opportunity for some serious binge eating. Who’s in?!
Sunday Market – Rokin, 10th of November
And of course, the Sunday market at Rokin. Which means funky food, lovely little artsy stands and so time to do some shopping. And even though I’ve told you before, this market is truly just too lovely not to mention to you again. Lets say, it’s the power of repetition, right? 😉
Flamenco – De Hallen, 10th of November
I am very much aware of the fact that I’ve told you quite often about the lovely shops, mouthwatering foodstands and cultural events at De Hallen lately. It’s their original concepts and great initiatives that manage to get me so excited every single time. This weekend is no exception, as every second Sunday of the month is “cultural Sunday” at De Hallen with the purpose of getting acquainted with culture. This Sunday, Flamenco takes the stage. Which means that there will be a lot of both professional as amateur dancers that will learn you the basics of this great dance style. So, go ahead, put on your dancing shoes and amaze everyone with your fluent Spanish dancing moves.
Make it one for in the books folks!
