I must admit, I’m not the greatest when it comes to remembering which date it is. It truly takes me a few seconds to remember the month even. And when I found out that this is already the last weekend of October, it truly struck me once again: time does not walk or run, it flies. Additionally, in case you haven’t noticed yet, I’m quite the sucker for autumn. With the canals covered in all kinds of yellow and orange leaves, it really is as pretty as a picture. So I am trying to enjoy it while it lasts. So, let me tell you about how I am planning to spend this upcoming weekend in my beloved Amsterdam!
24H Oost – Amsterdam Oost, 26th of October
The weekend means that it is once again time to get wonderfully lost. And even though, the day I was born, I lost my heart to my beloved neighbourhood, Amsterdam many other beautiful and interesting neighbourhoods to discover. This weekend is 24H East, an event meant to (re)discover all that east has to offer. Theatres, museums, churches, bars, shops and clubs welcome you to experience the east part of Amsterdam. Some doors that normally stay closed to the public will even give you a sneak peek. So, whether you are in for a silent disco, a pop-up choir, drinks and a little snack or participating in a discussion about how to improve the city. This night has it all!
Amsterdam Halloween – WesterUnie, 26th of October
And of course, I couldn’t let you start the spookiest weekend of the year without giving away a little recommendation on how and where to spend this famous American Holiday. ‘Cause if you are up for getting a little creative, dressing up and dancing the night away, you might enjoy the 11th edition of “Amsterdam Halloween” at WesterUnie. With multiple areas of different music and a lot of tickets being sold out already, this popular party promises to become a memorable one again.
Kick-off Truffle Season – 5&33, 25th of October till March
Truffle. You most probably are already aware of the fact that this quite expensive and exclusive delicacy has managed to become really popular amongst, well, almost everybody. And for a quite simple reason: it transforms a good dish into a great dish. But let’s get to it, this weekend 5&33 is kicking off the truffle season in collaboration with Freek van Noortwijk and Guillaume de Beer, known for Guts, restaurant Breda and Maris Piper. I can’t wait to indulge in their delicious creations again!
The Maker Market – De Hallen, 27th of October
If I had to choose from all the lovely markets in Amsterdam, The Maker Market one would definitely make the final cut. This indoor market at the Hallen is exclusively offering unique and locally produced items by (small) designers. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking for a gift for a loved one or a way to treat yourself. ‘Cause, why not after all? 😉
Fried Chicken and Biscuits Brunch Pop Up – Flora, 27th of October
Sunday is the perfect day for brunch. After sleeping in, taking it easy, it is time for loads of comfort food. This Sunday, Flora is hosting a Friend Chicken and Biscuits Brunch pop up. They will also be serving their newest brunch taco’s and homemade drinks. Sounds like a plan to me!
Make it a great one folks!
