After all this time, it still amazes me how time flies now that it will be September this Sunday. I know it’s a quite a cliché but am I the only one who feels like summer went by in the blink an eye? However, the weather has been on our side the last two weeks, so let’s be pretend to ignore the end of summer for a little while and let’s look at all the exciting things happening in Amsterdam this weekend!
Vrijmibo’s (Friday Drinks): Hanneke’s Boom and Dok Amsterdam, 30th of August
Let’s start of with two suggestions for an almost guaranteed great Vrijmibo: The “Nazomerfeest” at Hanneke’s Boom and “De Grote Zomerborrel” at Dok Amsterdam. Two just lovely spots to start the weekend off right!

Movies At The Hermitage – Hermitage, August 30th,31st and 1st of September
Quite some open-air cinemas have made the list this summer and not without any reason: they are just a lovely way to spend your evening in a unique setting. ‘Cause you know, the comfort of a home is not to be underestimated but sometimes, mixing it up can be a lot of fun too. This case, the setting is one of Amsterdam’s stunning museums called the Hermitage. Their courtyard will be transformed into an “exceptionally romantic” (to quote a visitor of last year) open air museum. Watch a great movie and the stars alongside 500 people.

Pllek Live Stage – PLLEK, 1st of September
Pllek is a lovely lunch and dinner spot located in the North part of Amsterdam, right on the “beach” of the river t ‘Ij. What’s better than enjoying (hopefully not) the last days of summer looking out on Amsterdam’s skyline on a beach. I honestly wouldn’t know. So, this Sunday, Afrogrooves will bring some live groovy tunes to the beach during this edition of the Pllek Live Stage. However, if you’d like to contribute to the musical programme this Sunday, you can bring your own instrument and do your own thing on stage.
The Maker Market – De Hallen, 1st of September
Ah, the market after my heart is once again back this Sunday! The Maker Market must be my favourite market, as all products are designed and made locally. The place to find to be surprised by original products, new concepts and overall just a market filled with great gems. And a little tip to go along with that: shopping often makes people a little hungry (cannot blame them, it costs energy, you know), I love to go to the Foodhallen to fix my energy levels.

Zomerfeest – Amstelpark, 1st of September 2019
I’d love the end this edition with the “zomerfeest” (Summerfest). It’s a small, local initiative hosted in the Amstelpark that offers a stage to aficionadas and professional artists, craftsmen’s, various sort of initiatives related to the surrounding neighbourhoods and nature. Next to some drinks and bites, there are performances, creative and green workshops throughout the day, hikes and more throughout the day. Sounds like lovely Sunday spent in the park to me!
Make it a memorable one people!
Sincerely,
Mr. J
