Especially during summer time, one of the reasons why you can often find me in one of Amsterdam’s lovely parks, is that nature has its way of slowing me down. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the dynamic buzz of my city, but every once in a while, nature can bring a person a whole lot of good. This lovely concept store is like a little urban jungle to Amsterdam, with a beautiful mission to make Amsterdam and its inhabitants love green a little more. Let me tell you about a gem called Wildernis.
The thought behind Wildernis is to make people (even) more enthusiastic about green and add greener to Amsterdam. Lately, almost every other person can call him or herself a “plant mother/father”: plants have been rather popular. At Wildernis, they believe that green is good. And not just for people and animals but also for homes and offices, the dynamic city streets and beyond. Green provides peace in times of chaos, adds life to urban spaces, cleans out air – and also looks just very lovely!
When stepping into Wildernis, you’ll immediately find yourself in a beautiful oasis of green. A lovely place to sit down and unwind. And that’s what the owners of the Wildernis also thought, as they also offer delicious coffee and some tiny sweet bites on the side.
Next to selling all sorts and shapes of little and big green friends, they also organize various in workshops and lectures at Wildernis. Experts will tell you all about urban gardening, vegetable gardening, houseplants and more. And no worries if you’ll fall in love with that one plant and having a bit of a hard time bringing it home: they also ship worldwide.
A definite must-visit for all my green fingers out there!
