Oh, how I love me some great pizza. Honestly, there’s almost nothing a few slices of pizza cannot fix. With one of Amsterdam’s finest pizza places (La Perla) around the corner, one could easily conclude that I have been a little spoiled when it comes to some fantastic Italian pizza. Just a little while ago, nNea opened its doors on the “Bilderdijkstraat”, just a five-minute bicycle ride from my place. And of course, I had to go see and taste for myself!
At nNea, they serve (a new kind of) Napolian pizzas. And that’s it. Of course, they do have some options for starters and (great!) desserts, but when it comes to the main dishes, do not expect anything else but pizza, as this place (spoiler) truly are the masters the art of this universally beloved dish. Furthermore, they serve all sorts of lovely wines from the Campania district in Italy, which is one of the oldest wine regions of the country. And to give it a local touch, all the specialty beers are from Amsterdam. I like!
The pizzas served at nNea are anything but fast food. When stepping foot into the place, you will be looking right into their open kitchen, that includes a fantastic handmade pizza oven. So not long after entering, you will be aware of the fact that you are not going to eat just any kind of ordinary, greasy pizza. One thing that definitely stunned me is that the dough needs to rest for 38(!) hours. Can you imagine?! That’s a proper workweek for some of us. But it is definitely worth it if you’d ask me: I’ve never tasted anything like it.
As I had some serious challenges choosing which pizza I wanted to try, my friend and I decided we wanted to try two pizza’s and share. So, that we could provide you with a fair judgement. You know, for the greater good. 😉 And it was one of the better decisions I’ve made lately. The pizzas were incredibly tasty: the dough is just so(!) fluffy and the chosen toppings are very original and exist only out of fresh and beautiful products and ingredients.
The setting in which you get to enjoy their ridiculously delicious pizzas is very laid back, modern and colourful. And on top of that, the staff is just genuinely so nice and incredibly helpful, which completes the entire picture.
nNea did it: they did not capture a part, but instead they claimed my entire pizza loving heart. And one thing is for sure, give me a couple of weeks and I will most probably be able to tell you which pizza is my favourite one on their entire menu. At least, that’s if I’m able to choose after all…
