Coffee: by far the most popular drink in the world and for many, best way to compensate a few (or many) lacking hours of sleep. It is the fuel that many among us need to get the day started. Recently, I learned that globally, over 2.25 billion cups are consumed every day. Can you believe it?! As for me, I probably rave about my love for this heavenly liquid to every other person I meet. I have 101 reasons why I can appreciate a proper cup of coffee. Thus, my infinite search for some great cup of coffee, preferably in the neighbourhood of course ;). Today, I’d love to tell you a little about a lovely little spot that goes under the name “Screaming Beans”.

“Screaming Beans” is in Amsterdam for quite some time already. They travelled around a little, from the “Haarlemmerdijk” to the “Singel”, but they now settled down in the “Runstraat”, which is one of the famous nine streets.
As you might already have guessed, at “Screaming Beans” they take coffee very seriously, as (spoiler ;)) they serve some of the greatest specialty coffee around. The beans used are selected from Tanzania, Guatemala, Colombia or Ethiopia. All beans are all roasted in-house before they are being brewed (to perfection) and eventually served.

So, next to getting your daily caffeine fix, you have the opportunity to enjoy some lovely fresh pastries, like banana bread and cheesecake, or some delicious sandwiches from “Vlaamsch Broodhuys”.
The setting of “Screaming Beans” is just lovely and very authentic. As for all other buildings in Amsterdam, the space is a bit limited, but they transformed it into some lovely little corners and a few tiny tables outside for on sunny days, to enjoy a little break.

I haven’t gotten around to try their popular iced coffee(s), which I heard is just the thing you’ll be craving for on a hot day in the city. So, if the sun will make an appearance again this weekend, this is one of the places where you might find me, enjoying a mix of all good things that my city has to offer.
Sincerely,
Mr. J
