I’ve declared my love for the Noordermarket before, but today I’d like to do so again. ‘Cause some things you simply cannot stress enough, right? A nice little stroll on the Noordermarket every Monday and Saturday is one of the ways that I’d like to treat myself. Another way to do so, is good food. A year ago, Libertine Petit Cafe opened its doors at the Noordermarkt and I wouldn’t be surprised if a visit to this French Bistro will become another weekly thing of mine too…
Libertine Petit Café is the youngest of the three Libertines in my beloved city. After great successes with Libertine Café Café (2017) and Libertine Comptoir de Cuisine (2018), it was time to open yet another French inspired all day hangout. Next to a slightly different feel, the three café’s all have another speciality. Where Libertine Café Café is known for its pizzas and Libertine Comptoir de Cuisine for its French toast, Libertine Petit Café offers classic French bistro dishes all day. From croque madam and mussels to salad Niçoise and steak fries, they serve the real classics of the lovely French cuisine all day long.
And the French influence of course doesn’t just apply to the menu, but it is also translated into a very stylish yet very raw interior, which is totally up my alley! Beautiful anitique mirrors, vintage maps and a super industrial bar almost make you believe that you’re located in the middle of a tiny French town. But at the end of the day, the many locals that you’ll find here, will give away that you’re actually in the most gorgeous neighborhood of Amsterdam. But I’ve heard of worse wake up calls to be honest. 😉
Next to the fact that the staff is very friendly and welcoming, I liked this place even more when I heard that there is a special menu every Saturday and Monday when the market takes place. The menu is based upon, and created with, local products that are sold on the actual market outside. Which is a very lovely initiative if you’d ask me!
With another market coming up tomorrow, I might hop in after the treasure hunting is done. ‘Cause after some serious strolling, I’m positive that I can always rely on the classic French cuisine to take care of my energy levels and “fuel me up” for the rest of the day.
