Almost nothing makes me happier than good food. I’m always on the hunt for it to be honest, but then again, you most probably know that by now. Just a little while ago, when I found myself strolling through the nine streets and I decided that it was time to try out ‘Jansz. for myself’

Back in the 17th century, craftsman Volkert Jansz was a so-called man with discerning tastes. With a keen eye for style and a passion for conversation and debate. You could say that he was rather outspoken.

What stuck with me most when finding out about him, is that as he embraced the finer things in life, he was most definitely convinced that decadence and luxury was most enjoyable when shared. Personally, I am a firm believer of the saying that happiness is multiplied when shared. And yes, that even goes for food!

The interior at ‘Jansz.’ is just very lovely and not forget to mention, oh so stylish. Especially the entrance captured left me a little in awe. The entrance used to be home to a pharmacy and this little bit of history is honoured in their decoration. For the dining space, imagine comfortable couches, white walls, marble and an open kitchen.

‘Jansz.’ claims to serve beautifully crafted modern classics with an easy-going Dutch attitude. And so, the menu offers classic yet exciting options. Personally, I very much enjoyed my main course which was salmon with black rice and bimi. Overall, the combination of the food and the general setting makes this place definitely a lovely option if you are into fine dining!

I had a very pleasant dining experience at ‘Jansz.’ and no doubt that you’ll see me enjoying some of their lunch options on their terrace, the moment the very stubborn and confusing Dutch weather allows it.
Sincerely,
Mr. J
Jansz.
