Winter is officially here to stay. And I get it, a lot of people directly wander off to those cold, rainy, dark and sometimes even snowy days. For some people, it’s prime nesting season and the most soothing thought is to stay in all day. But personally, I find that every season does have its charm and above all, one of the reasons why I am so madly in love with my beautiful city, is that there is always, always, always something exciting to do. Even, or sometimes, especially on those cold, gloomy winter days. So, let me enlighten you about a couple of lovely events hosted this weekend!

‘Moonlight’ – LAB111, February 8th 2019 (19.00h)
Name a better way to start to weekend of than with a really good movie. Tonight, the movie ‘Moonlight’ will play at LAB111. This movie so rewarded with an Oscar, so it’s supposed to be more than worth it! Moonlight is about a homosexual boy of colour, facing challenges during his childhood, puberty and further on in life as a mature male. From what I heard, the main character is immensely complex, and the storyline is rather unique. And no worries, if this is too last minute for you and you’re already “fully booked” for tonight, on the 11th, 14th and 20th of February, you’ll have another chance to see Moonlight.

‘KLOFFIE Markt’ – De Hallen, February 9th 2019 (12.00h – 17.00h)
Tomorrow, it’s time for a new edition of ‘KLOFFIE Markt’ at one of my favourite places in town: ‘De Hallen’! At this monthly market, you’ll get the chance to buy great pieces secondhanded and vintage (designer) clothes. The ‘KLOFFIE Markt’ is a firm believer of buying quality of quantity and supports slow fashion. The aim is to decrease the level of waste, that generated by the production of clothes, and to increase the lifespan of valuable pieces of clothing. A great initiative if you’d ask me and definitely a nice opportunity to go treasure hunting!

High Wine – MOER, February 10th 2019 (14:00h – 16:00h)
Just like I have my own ideas on how to start the weekend off properly, I also have my preferences on how to end the weekend right. And if often includes a nice little glass of wine. This Sunday afternoon, restaurant ‘MOER’ will host a High Wine. An afternoon filled with glasses of great wine, little tasty (organic) bites and some live jazz music. That does sound like the perfect little Sunday afternoon, right?

‘Rauw’ – Razmataz, February 10th 2019 (16.00h)
A well-prepared steak tartare can bring me great joy. And if you’re just like me, you might want to consider going to Razmataz this Sunday for a new edition of ‘RAUW’ (meaning raw). They claim to serve the best steak tartares in town, togehter with roasted brioche bread, fries fom ‘Friethoes’ and Spätburgunder. To ensure your spot, the best thing you can do is reserve a table and prepare yourself to be wined and dined. I know I am 😉
Make it a weekend to remember folks!
Sincerely,
Mr. J
