It’s not the best kept secret that I love cheese and just all things savoury. It’s more like general knowledge for the people who know me. I still adore ‘Kaashuis Tromp’ more and more, if that’s even possible. What I’m trying to say is that the people behind the initiative of ‘Kaashuis Tromp’ also have a lovely initiative called ‘Dutch Delicacy’ at ‘Spui Square’.
‘Dutch Delicacy’ is a shop, deli and lunchroom in one. The store offers a very(!) broad range of cheeses, from classic Dutch cheeses to fresh truffle goat cheese and pink pesto cheese. But that’s not all, they also offer some healthy fresh juices, great dried sausages and other cold cut delicacies. There are many samples to be found in the store, which makes for a nice opportunity to step out of your comfort zone for a little and try one of the many original flavours and products.
What I probably love most is the little lunchroom, hidden in the back of the store. What makes it so lovely is the beautiful setting and trendy interior. The cosy lunch corner has an absolutely stunning Amsterdam view on the canals, which makes it so dreamy and the perfect place to have a coffee or fresh juice along with one of their delicious sandwiches.
Furthermore, I discovered that you’re also able to do tastings at ‘Dutch Delicacy’, like fondue or try one of their cheese or meat platters. But if you’re in a rush, the deli part of the shop makes for the perfect takeaway place for luscious loaves, savoury sandwiches and some sweets. Also, not to forget to mention, they can make your order ‘airplane ready’ and there’s some good news if you find yourself somewhere else on planet earth, craving for one of their products, they ship worldwide!
Maybe I should go for one of their tastings instead of the usual Friday afternoon drinks… Care to join me?
Sincerely,
Mr. J
