Time really does fly. It’s been a year already since I’ve told you about ‘Museumnacht’, what it’s about, its history and where I was planning on going. This year, I can’t help but to find myself buzzing about its broad program again. And I wouldn’t be me if I would keep you in the dark about my ideas on where to go, during this lovely evening.
Again, there are so many events hosted this year. 332 events in total, to be specific. So, you’re probably not the only one if you might feel a little overwhelmed or if the FOMO is rising to the surface already. In that case, I hope that I can be of any help by sharing the events that I am looking forward to most.
Openingspreformance @ Scheepsvaartmuseum (6pm – 7pm)
This will be my first stop of the evening. At 6pm, Amsterdam’s major, Femke Halsema, will welcome everybody and officially kick-off ‘Museumnacht’ 2018. Followed by, what is promised to be, a truly great performance about Amsterdam by multiple musicians and a visual artist. The performance will be dedicated to Amsterdam and its relationship with water. How it can move with us or go in the reverse direction. About that water can divide us, but also truly can connect us. As at the end of the day, we realize that we’re all made of it.
The Oracle Buffet @ Arti et Amicitiae (7pm – 8.30pm)
At Arti Et Amicitae, they believe that a good meal, before hitting the town, is at least as important as a good band. Therefore, they organized a futuristic virus buffet full, which really made me curious. So, all foodies beware, first come, first serve.

Silent state @ De Nieuwe Kerk (7pm – 2am)
Michelle de Bruijn, owner of Conscious Culture, will take you on the journey to your subconscious. A world filled with beauty, inspiration and power. Accompinied by soothing music, you don’t have to do anything but to surrender yourself to the moment. Which sounds like music to my ears!
Amsterdamse Grachten x Stromma @ Museum Het Grachtenhuis (7pm – 1 am)
This museum is the place to learn all about Amsterdam’s famous canals. But what better way to learn about them then on a boat. Get on board on one of their boats and experience the canals at night. It will most surely make for some beautiful sights!

Familie op Solder @ Museum Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder (7pm – 1am)
The exhibition at this amazing ‘hidden’ church is dedicated to families. An Amsterdam photographerduo, Carin Verbruggen and Ferry Drenthme m Soesman, photographed families of different backgrounds and religions. Discover their stories and think about your own history. With whom do you identify?

Dancing between the plants and the ‘Ballenbar’ @ Hortus Botanicus
This one couldn’t not be in my list, as I just love Hortus Botanicus. For the ones who’d like to dance the night away, I’d definitely recommend this place. The music is promised to be as diverse as all the plants that will be surrounding you. And if you need a little break, try the ‘Ballenbar’. They will serve a Dutch treat called ‘bitterballen’ with a twist. Can’t wait to get my hands on those! Do mind: it’s pin only.
Update: tickets are just now sold out. However, if you didn’t get a ticket yet but you’d still like to go, keep an eye on a website called ‘Ticketswap’. There are some tickets available on here, every now and then.
Sincerely,
Mr. J
