Kaashuis Tromp – Cheese heaven

Today I’d like to talk to you about cheese. One of the things I, and my fellow Dutchies, can never (ever.) get enough of. But not just any kind of cheese, but cheese from ‘Kaashuis Tromp’. ‘Kaashuis’ literally means ‘Cheese house’. Can you imagine? Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it?

Cheese goes with (almost) everything, if you ask me. Good, tasty cheese can turn a simple sandwich into something spectacular and goes great with a nice glass of wine in the evening. The staff at ‘Kaashuis Tromp’ is very helpful in finding the perfect cheese you’re craving for or looking to go along with anything you have planned. They’re the real experts!

‘Kaashuis Tromp’ has endless sorts of cheese, from true Dutch cheeses to foreign treats. Cheese is literally piled up to the ceiling. The list is endless, so one thing is for sure: they have what you are looking for. Just less than a ten-minute walk from my home, my favourite ‘Kaashuis Tromp’ store, is located at the ‘Elandsgracht’ in the Jordaan.

Next to the obvious, they also have some great homemade cheesecakes and they make the best fresh sandwiches to go. Also, only the thought of their cheese fondue already brings water to my mouth. So, if you are craving for whatever sort of cheese, this is your place. Sweet, uhm, I mean savoury, dreams are made of ‘Kaashuis Tromp’.

Ps. It probably comes as no surprise to you, but the cheeses served during breakfast at my home are naturally also from ‘Kaashuis Tromp’. I told you so, no surprise. 😉

Sincerely,

Mr. J

[…] During the genever tasting, one will get to know every fascinating thing about the history of Amsterdam’s distillations and the different processes. But most importantly of course, you will to try various liquors and genever for yourself, which is something I highly recommend! And while you’re at it, I will state the obvious, just to be sure: do not forget to eat, if that’s something you’re even capable of. The menu includes some traditional, good old Dutch food. Nothing to fancy but produced with some of the greatest local products, such as the finest Dutch cheese fondue from my favourite place, “Kaashuis Tromp”. […]
