The Jordaan is a wonderful district full of art, galleries, boutiques, shops and other hidden gems. Even though I have lived here my whole life, and always like to think I am familiar with all the in’s and out’s of the neighborhood, it keeps amazing me every time.
So, for the weekend I am looking forward to this exhibition which will open tonight! Cloud gallery, located on the Prinsengracht, presents a solo exhibition called: ‘Point of View’ by Vassilis Triantis. Cloud Gallery is a wonderful small exhibition space focussed on contemporary art. At Cloud they love showcasing young, upcoming and established artists.

In 2006, Juice Lab was created as part of the gallery. Juice Lab is a juice company that exclusively uses organic fruit and vegetables. Juice Lab grew quite fast, and opened a second location on the Haarlemmerdijk. Isn’t that just perfect? Amazing art, fresh juices and delicious coffee?
Well, about this exhibition: Triantis his exhibition is all about urbanisation and how it’s become a modern calamity. It is predicted that by 2050 about 64% of the developing world and 86% of the developed world will be urbanised. I think we can all imagine the massive impact of this world wide urbanisation.

With the series “Point of view” Triantis tries to answer one question; ‘how does this trend of urbanisation affect the way we perceive our environments? His work seems a perfect combination between colorful and quite peaceful, rural images in opposition to black and white, blurred, urban images.
Sincerely,
Mr. J.
