Hiya! How’s the new year treating you so far? Well I am full of energy, positive vibes, and new stories!
As you might know I am a big fan of locally produced productes, original initiatives, organic stuff, sustainable items and so on. Today, I would like to tell you a little something about UNBEGUN, an amazing brand I came across in The Makers Market Store (read about it here: click).

They really got my interest with their beautiful products and perfect story. It all starts with a boy who used to build Amsterdam market stalls as a side job. Later the idea came to mind to upcycle the old stall covers, into new bags or wallets and give them a second life. Less waste, unique products, historic materials. UNBEGUN makes items with covers from, for example, the Albert Kuyp, the Ten Kate markt and Waterlooplein. Isn’t it fun to own a bag and know it’s material was used for years as a stall cover on Amsterdam’s finest markets?

After years of loyal service to the market stalls, the covers arrive at the atelier. Every piece is treated differently, as every cover is unique. When clean and shiny, they’re carefully cut according to size, shape and story. All of this is done by hand, so each item keeps its original quirks. UNBEGUN now has three variations; a backpack, a (shoulder) handbag and a shopper. (I am really digging the backpack!) Additionally to the bags they started making a wallet as well.
I will definitely keep an eye on this brand and am looking forward to new items!
Sincerely,
Mr. J.
