Aaah what a wonderful year, don’t you think? I am so happy to have started this blog and to share my experiences and stories with ya’ll. And now, it has almost come to an end. 2017 of course, not the blog. I am looking forward to a new year of sharing new and old stories. While spending NYE in Amsterdam I am pretty sure you have some great events planned, Amsterdam lacks no creativity in this area.
Well, every year you’ll find me just on the corner of my beloved ‘Bloemgracht’ and the ‘Prinsengracht’, as it is it really is an amazing place to watch the fireworks with friends and family. From the ‘Bloemgracht’ you’ll have the Westerkerk, Anne Frank House and the rest of the city in the background. This combined with a splendid firework show makes the perfect NYE.
In 2000, Joost Ritman (a local entrepreneur) decided not to let this particular NYE pass quietly and got some of the best fireworks. This became a tradition and grew each year. Well, for 18 years now he and a team of professional make sure to give an amazing show. He said the crossing of the two canals is magical and historical, surrounded by water which is so typical for Amsterdam. Ritman’s special connection to this location comes from being born and raised on the ‘Bloemgracht’. Sounds familiar?
So, who’ll join me on the ‘Bloemgracht’ and celebrate the start of 2018? For those reading this, I would like to wish you all an amazing NYE and all the best for the upcoming year.
