Sooo, today I found myself checking out the ‘Beeldbank’, which tend to do when feeling a bit nostalgic. The ‘Beeldbank’ is an online archive which contains thousands of really, really, cool and sometimes super old images of Amsterdam. I had the best time, once again, searching for my home on the Bloemgracht and seeing these historic images all saved in one awesome place.
As you can imagine, the ‘Beeldbank’ is super handy when doing research and has a big historic value. But also, it is just really fun to browse around. This new blog thing comes in handy, as I get to share some of my favorites with you!
These images make me want to go out, find the right angle and take some pictures, just so I can compare and check the differences during the years. All the old cars, the trees, the houses, they all look so pretty in these old pictures. Don’t you think? I can really spot the differences for the hotel, as two buildings became one during the years. But, most of the facades look quite similar.
All images were found on the ‘Beeldbank’.
The recognizable view on the Westerchurch we so adore.
Gorgeous view from above, the rooftop view quite similar to ours.
Here we go! This is the stuff, on the right side next to the church my beloved home. See the sign above the door saying ‘hotel’? Aah good times.
This view feels quite familiar, doesn’t it?
