What can I say, Van ’t Spit just has amazing, juicy, grilled chicken. Nothing more, nothing less.
I always love restaurants whom are this sure of their products and need no covering by extended menus. Van ’t Spit’s menu is super clear: you can choose between a whole or a half chicken, which ever you prefer. Then a variation of side dishes such as; bread, organic fries, mashed sweet potato, corn, salads and of course apple sauce. Chicken with apple sauce on the side, or ‘Kip met appelmoes’ as we call it, might be the most Dutch tradition ever.

People are getting more and more interested in what exactly they are eating. Van ’t Spit thinks this is a great development and loves explaining exactly where their food is coming from. Owner Tim is a believer in animal friendliness and makes sure all animals are treated well, no antibiotics and other medical enhancers. All chickens get enough space, all organic grains and fresh water.
Van ’t Spit is located outside the Jordaan district, but no worries tram 12, 13 and 14 will take you there in no time. Keep in mind that is not possible to reserve a table and can get quite busy! Worst case scenario, there are other options nearby (like FAAM for instance).
