Aaaah, recently I discovered a new Italian place just a short walk from the Bloemgracht. And let me tell you, it is just amazing. With Locanda, owners Divna and Tomasso wanted to create a small place, where you can take a break and eat some great food. Divna and Tomasso met each other a few years ago in Milan, a Italian love story you can call it. Together they decided to move to Amsterdam and start ‘Locanda’.
Divna and Tomasso appreciate fresh flavors, innovative concepts and exceptional ingredients. Their authentic Italian dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients. Think; bruschetta, gnocchi, melanzane, risotto or tiramisu. At Locanda they managed to create a pleasant and casual atmosphere. It is small, with a modern and cosy interieur. The architects from Mezzo Atelier, have created and self built most of Locanda’s furniture at their studio in northern Italy and then assembled it on site.

For starters I had the bruschetta with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella, which was just exquisite. The marinated tomatoes where some of the best I’ve had. For the main course, I chose the Tortellini filled with ricotta and spinach, in sage-butter. Which I was really looking forward to, since it is one of my favorite pasta dishes. The flavors in the dishes are simply amazing, you can taste the use of fresh ingredients and eye for detail. Their wines are all Italian, of course, and of great quality. We adored the Pinot.
All and all, Locanda is perfect for a bite to eat in the Jordaan district. The service is ever so friendly and they will make you feel right at home. Afterwards, café ‘De Blaffende Vis’ is always a great idea for a drink (or two). Or Café Nol, is right on the corner, in case you would love to dance to some Dutch all time hits.
Sincerely,
Mr. J.
